Remember the old days, when savvy consumers usually kept a stash of cut-out coupons to get good deals or discounts on their everyday purchases like food, groceries, and shopping? Today, those have been largely replaced with loyalty rewards programmes that we can easily store on our mobile phones. Yet, the idea that we should stretch our money remains just as relevant, if not more so, in the current environment of high inflation.

But the problem is that there are too many loyalty programmes. Each retailer may have their own app and rewards programme, which can be troublesome to track as well as difficult to achieve due to the minimum spend required to earn the points. At an individual level, we also have to decide which loyalty programme we want to sign up for and actively participate in, and which are the programmes that we should just forgo if the effort to earn points isn’t worth the potential reward we can get.

If there is one loyalty programme we should consider signing up for, it’s yuu (pronounced as ‘you’)

yuu is Singapore’s newest loyalty programme. The yuu Rewards Club, which is backed by Temasek tech venture minden.ai and strategic partner Dairy Farm International (DFI) Retail Group–the company behind Cold Storage, Giant, and 7-Eleven–wants to make it convenient for consumers to collect yuu Points and redeem more discounts and deals on their everyday spending through a single app.

What Is yuu Rewards Club?

yuu Rewards Club is a brand coalition loyalty programme that connects you to over 15 of Singapore’s most-loved household brands at around 1,000 locations to earn points and enjoy amazing offers and rewards on a single app. Participating brands include DBS, the DFI Retail Group (consisting of Cold Storage, CS Fresh, Giant, Guardian Health & Beauty, and 7-Eleven), the BreadTalk Group (which includes BreadTalk, Butter Bean, Food Junction, Food Republic, Thye Moh Chan, and Toast Box), Mandai Wildlife Reserve (home to Jurong Bird Park, Night Safari, River Wonders, and Singapore Zoo), PAssion Card, and Singtel.

You will earn a single loyalty currency called yuu Points without any minimum spend requirement, that you can use to redeem deals, offers, and rewards from any retailer in the programme. For example, the yuu Points that you earned by spending at Giant can be redeemed for rewards at BreadTalk or other brands. Every S$1 spent with the participating brands earns 1 yuu Point and there is no cap or limit on how many points can be earned. Separately, you may also use 200 yuu Points to offset S$1 off on your purchases.

Download The App & Scan To Collect And Redeem yuu Points

To join the free yuu Rewards Club, you must be 18 years old and have an active Singapore registered mobile number and email address.

Simply download the yuu app, which is available on the Google Play Store, Apple App Store, and Huawei App Store, or scan the QR Code below.

Once you have downloaded the app, you will need to complete a simple registration process, and you are all set to enjoy the perks of the rewards programme.

The next time you shop at any of the participating brands, show your yuu ID (on the My ID page of the app), which is displayed either as a unique QR code or barcode, to the cashier or at a self-checkout kiosk before you make payment as normal.

You will receive the yuu Points for the eligible spend on your app within 14 days, and the Points earned will have a two-year validity period. You can also redeem multiple Rewards in the same transaction, including combining with other in-store offers.

Earn More yuu Points With Partner Offers And Using Relevant Bank Cards

yuu Rewards Club is different from other Rewards Programme as it has a Points Multiplier mechanism that lets you gain bonus yuu Points on top of the standard rate, so you can redeem more rewards.

The Point Multiplier can be achieved in two ways. First, you can earn more yuu Points by spending on any of the Partner Offers, which can be stacked automatically (check in app for more details). Second, you could earn even more bonus yuu Points by paying through selected Bank Cards, DBS yuu Card (up to 30X), and PAssion POSB Debit Card (up to 16X).

For example, assuming you bought a Meadows chocolate bar from Cold Storage for S$3.95, here’s how many yuu Points you could potentially get with the Points Multiplier.

Typically, you would get $3.95 = 3.95 yuu Points (Base Points) as $1 spend = 1 yuu Point

However, as the Meadows chocolate bar is a Partner Offer that gives 3X yuu points, you would get a further 7.9 yuu Points.

3.95 yuu Pointsx2 = 7.9 yuu Points (Partner Offer)

Lastly, depending on whether you use a PAssion POSB Debit Card or a DBS yuu Card, you could get an additional 13X or 27X points, respectively. This would be sum to:

Using PAssion POSB Debit Card:

3.95 yuu Pointsx13 = 51.35 yuu Points (Card Offer – PAssion POSB Debit Card)

Or, using DBS yuu Card:

3.95 yuu Pointsx27 = 106.65 yuu Points (Card Offer – DBS yuu Card)

In total, by staking up your purchase with a partner offer and using the bank card offer, you could get up to 118.50 yuu Points instead of just 3.95 yuu Points. This allows you to rack up more yuu Points, which you can then redeem for any of the partner rewards on the programme.

DBS yuu Card Lets You Earn Up To 30X More yuu Points

If you do not have a DBS yuu Card, sign up for one here or at any DBS Bank outlets to earn as much as 30X yuu Points during the campaign period (27 October 2022 to 31 January 2023).

For existing customers of the DBS Black Card, you will automatically receive the new DBS yuu Card as a replacement. Simply activate and link your DBS yuu Card on the yuu App to start earning and redeeming points.

When you activate your DBS yuu Card during the campaign promotion period, you will also receive a $10 cashback, which is valid for both new DBS yuu Card and existing DBS Black Card customers.

Earn Up To 16X More yuu Points With PAssion POSB Debit Card

Alternatively, you can also earn up to 16X more yuu Points when you pay with the PAssion POSB Debit Card at participating yuu merchants. Similar to the credit card, link your PAssion POSB Debit Card to the yuu app to enjoy the benefits of the programme. If you do not own one, you can apply for the PAssion POSB Debit Card here or at any POSB Bank or outlet.

Additionally, the TapForMore (TFM) programme, which is part of the PAssion Card will end on 30 April 2023. You can either use your current TFM by 30 April 2023 or convert them to yuu Points via the yuu App at a conversion rate of 1 TFM = 1.33 yuu Points.

You can also choose to donate your yuu Points, in multiples of 20, towards PAssion CARES, which is available in the Rewards section.

Redeem A Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 5G Using yuu Points

Earning those yuu Points can be even more fun for some if you can redeem them for some worthwhile rewards. On that front, yuu has some attractive limited-time rewards on offer currently.

The highest-value offer is the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 5G, which is worth S$1,398 and can be redeemed for 279,600 yuu Points. You can also redeem Singtel’s Sport Plus (for 30 days) worth S$19.90 for 3,000 yuu Points or admission tickets to local attractions like the River Wonders, Singapore Zoo, and Jurong Bird Park.

If you are someone who likes quick wins instead of accumulating points for bigger Rewards, then you can get a hot Kopi from Toast Box for just 10 yuu Points, a can of Meadows Cola for 50 yuu Points or a 50 grams bar of Cadbury Milk Chocolate for 200 yuu Points. Check out the Featured Rewards tab on the yuu app for the latest rewards.

And the best part is that earning these rewards can be easy too. Aside from maximising your spending at the participating brands, look out for the Partner and Product Offers, which are updated weekly on the app. With these offers, you can earn up to 2X more yuu Points, and when combined with the bank card offers, you can quickly accumulate more yuu Points.

For example, assuming you were to pay for two current merchant offers using the PAssion POSB Debit Card, you could get up to 350.80 yuu Points for just $7.70. This is sufficient for you to grab a couple of the easy-win rewards, like the chocolate bar and a cola can drink.

Alternatively, if you are a saver, you can collect more yuu Points with the DBS yuu Card when you spend at either the DFI Retail Group or BreadTalk Group. During this launch offer, you could earn at least 9,600 yuu points if you spend at least S$80 per bill at a participating DFI Retail Group or BreadTalk Group three times per month for a total combined monthly spend of at least S$400. You would earn even more yuu Points if you spent on items with partner offers.

yuu Can Be A Millionaire

Spend your way to a million yuu Points in the yuu Singapore PAssion Card lucky draw that is open to all PAssion Card members. There are a total of 6 weekly draws from 27 October to 7 December 2022, where you can win the top prize of one million yuu Points.

To be eligible, you need to sign up for yuu Rewards Club. Thereafter, you need to perform at least one qualifying transaction (which, includes earning or redeeming yuu Points) at any of the Brand partners in each of the qualifying weeks or transfer TapForMore points to yuu Points.

So, what are you waiting for? Sign up for yuu Rewards Club, possibly Singapore’s best loyalty programme, to stretch your dollars more today!
