National Day is around the corner and rehearsals and exclusive previews have been and are still ongoing since May through July. Lucky attendees of the previews and the actual parade celebrations have gotten the chance to get their hands on this year’s fun packs and exclusive National Day Parade (NDP) items.
To those who did not manage to get a ticket, fret not, because you can also embark on a National Day activity with your young kids and loved ones by can recreating your very own NDP fun pack right at home.
We have compiled a list of items, the cost of each item and where you can get them to help you start off this wholesome activity.

NDP 2023 Pack Designs
Before you begin your very own recreations, here are some interesting facts about this year’s NDP fun pack designs to inspire you on your own fun pack.

This year’s National Day Packs are a little different from previous years. Compared to the typical red or white coloured bags that scream ‘Singapore’, this year’s packs take the form of simple tote bags. There are four different artwork designs recipients can look forward to. The designs of the packs are specially curated by 21 artists with disabilities from schools, social service agencies and volunteer groups.
The four designs:
- Diversity
The first design, ‘Diversity’, showcases the diverse communities that make up Singapore within the shape of our country. There are iconic features and landmarks featured as well from HDB blocks to Gardens By The Bay. - Fabric of Singapore
The second design, ‘Fabric of Singapore’ showcases the fusion of tradition and modernity that is uniquely Singapore through a patchwork design. - Connectedness
The third design, ‘Connectedness’ is inspired by Singapore’s MRT map which is represented through the crisscrossing lines. - Blooming Singapore
The fourth design, ‘Blooming Singapore’ takes the shape of Singapore’s National Flower, the Vanda Miss Joachim with a heart in the middle to symbolise unity and harmony.

Recreating Your Fun Pack
You will need the following items to recreate a NDP fun pack -although some items are optional, – and you can mix and match according to what you prefer more in your bag.
#1 Tote Bag

Starting off with the pack itself, have fun drawing or painting your very own fun pack design with your friends and family on a blank tote bag canvas. Perhaps taking inspiration from this year’s fun pack design, an idea could be coming up with a design that speaks of your own interpretations of what Singapore means to you.
Plain cotton bags can be found at the following retailers at these costs. To make your purchase as convenient and fast as possible we will be recommending physical stores which you can easily find across the island. One possible location that has all three stores will be Plaza Singapura.

*Uniqlo’s flagship store at Orchard Central offers a digital customisation printing service for its T-shirts and Eco-Friendly tote bags. Get to choose from various customisation styles for your fun pack such as character stickers, in-app paint function, typography, images and more. Printing for the mini tote bag costs $29.90 while services for the normal sized tote bags cost $39.90.
#2 Handheld National Flag
With National Day approaching, supermarkets such as Cold Storage and NTUC are putting up stands selling NDP decorations including handheld flags. These flags can be bought in sets or individually. However, do note that not all outlets may display these stands and National Day items displayed on the stands may vary across outlets as well.

#3 Exclusive NDP Pins

This year’s fun pack also contains two NDP exclusive enamel pins featuring an animated Merlion character and an animated otter showcasing the KrisFlyer app as part of KrisFlyer’s partnership with NDP 2023. Fret not, you won’t be missing out on these designs no matter how cute they may be. The good thing about creating your own fun pack is that you are free from partnership deals and are allowed to let your creativity flow by creating your own pin designs.
According to WikiHow, you can make your own pin badges by purchasing a snap-in casing button which looks the image on the right above. These pins can be found in online stores like Shopee. Afterwards, you may print out or draw on your very own pin design. However, with online purchases, you would have to make your purchases early so that it arrives before National Day.

#4 Temporary Tattoos

With or without this year’s fun pack you can still get similar temporary NDP sticker tattoos from online retailers such as GumToo. GumToo offers both NDP 2023 exclusive tattoos and their own NDP themed customised designs.

#5 NDP Exclusive Drum Set With Light Stick

Another NDP exclusive item in this year’s fun pack is a small drum set with this year’s theme printed on it. Along with it is a drumstick with a light. Here’s your chance to join in the National Day celebrations singalongs and cheering from your homes while watching the live broadcast at home. You can replicate this drum set with a kid’s drum set found in Daiso. Although there’s no cool lit up drumstick, you can still drum to your own beat with your kids and loved ones!

#6 Portable Fan

If you do not have at least one portable fan lying around at home in Singapore’s heat, there are multiple affordable handheld fan options available at Daiso. If you want to stick to the theme of National Day, you can paint over your own National Day designs on these fans as well.

With the pandemic settled down, you may have some hand sanitisers still lying around to house or you may even still carry them around. If you don’t you are probably familiar with stores that do. This includes stores such as Guardian, Watsons and supermarkets which also carry around insect repellents.

#8 Snacks And Water
Lastly, an NDP fun pack would not be complete without the snacks and in this year’s fun pack there are biscuits, instant noodles, Sunshine cream buns and a SPARKLE mineral water bottle. These items can be commonly found in convenient stores such as 7/11 and Cheers and what’s more is that you can pick and choose your favourite flavours, drink and snacks according to your preferences.
